The crossing

After a period devoted to the creation of small furniture and wooden objects, my practice is gradually moving toward pieces situated at the boundary between design and artistic research. This shift has led me in particular to develop luminous objects, where light becomes a true compositional material, notably through the use of transparency. My work continues to rely on a dialogue between materials and color.

Plexiglass was already present in some earlier projects, as seen here in a more illustrative form. Inlaid into the wood and engraved, it evokes a form of contemporary marquetry.

The console revisits the idea of a previous project titled Sultan, originally designed as a children’s bench inspired by Sultan chickens. With La Traversée, this idea evolves into a more elongated and assertive piece. The form of the console stretches out and rests on long steel legs that recall the birds’ legs, giving the whole piece a light silhouette, almost in motion.

The use of birch plywood and steel connects it to certain earlier pieces from the studio, making this object a true point of transition between two periods of my work.

This evolution also echoes my initial training in drawing: through the work with light, color, and translucent surfaces, I reconnect with an approach close to drawing, where composition, layers, and contrasts play a central role. Today, this research simply takes form through objects and within space.
