Atelier POPI, that’s me, Alix Nicolas! “Popi” is the affectionate nickname my friends have given me for over ten years, and today, it’s also the soul of my workshop. Atelier POPI is a dynamic creative space based in Brussels, where each piece of furniture stands out for its originality, vibrant colors, and unique character. Here, I design pieces that break the mold, playing with shapes, materials, drawings, and colors to bring a touch of energy and modernity to every creation.

My journey? As a child, I wanted to be a pirate. Then, I pursued a science-focused high school diploma (Bac S) in France, thinking I would become a Physics-Chemistry engineer. But no—my passion for drawing won! So, I earned a Master’s degree in Drawing (ENSAV La Cambre) before training in cabinetmaking (EFP) and carpentry. My love for wood grew from my passion for drawing and working with paper, a material that has inspired me since childhood when I loved crafting. Today, I express this fascination by working with various types of wood, which I combine with other materials such as Plexiglass, brass, resin, stone, and ceramics. The result? Handmade, graphic, unique, and lively furniture.

In 2022, I discovered fab labs and trained in CNC machining, which opened up new creative possibilities and allowed me to launch small series productions. These original, handmade creations remain true to my colorful and energetic universe while being accessible to a wider audience.
